  • Located near Pukenui, in the northernmost tip of New Zealand, the power plant is now energised and commissioned.

  • Under contract with Aquila Clean Energy APAC and Far North Solar Farm, Photon Energy served as the EPC contractor and now also provides O&M services to the power plant.

  • The power plant will generate approximately 30 GWh of clean, renewable energy annually, enough to power more than 2,000 homes in the region each year.

Amsterdam/Sydney – 12 November 2025 – Photon Energy N.V. (WSE&PSE: PEN, FSX: A1T9KW) (‘Photon Energy Group’ or the ‘Company’) has announced the successful energisation and commissioning of the 20.8 MWp Pukenui Solar Farm in New Zealand’s Far North. The project was co-developed by Aquila Clean Energy APAC and Far North Solar Farm (FNSF), with Photon Energy providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, alongside two years’ operations and maintenance (O&M) support.

“We are proud to see the Pukenui Solar Farm energised and contributing to New Zealand’s renewable energy future. This milestone highlights our ability to deliver high-quality solar projects with leading investors and developers on a global scale. In addition, we take pride in successfully completing the project without any major incidents or injuries, a testament to the professionalism and commitment of everyone involved,” said Georg Hotar, CEO of Photon Energy Group.

The Pukenui Solar Farm comprises 35,000 high-efficiency solar PV modules, connected to the Top Energy network. The project benefited from close collaboration with local Māori communities, businesses and partners throughout development and construction.

This marks Photon Energy’s first utility-scale project in New Zealand and one of the first delivered by Aquila Clean Energy and FNSF in the country. Photon Energy will also provide ongoing O&M services for the plant.

Earlier this year, Photon Energy signed an EPC+O&M contract for 38 MW solar power plant in Romania with Hyperion, a prominent Portuguese renewable energy developer.
